Everyone else who is “anyone” in tech is discussing their top story of the decade so I am weighing in as well. While the iPod, iPhone and Google made big news, nothing impacted my life like my top tech story which is the . . .

growth of broadband Internet access, both wired broadband and mobile broadband. In 1999, a vast majority of people accessing the Web were doing it via dial up. Now. although broadband penetration is not where it needs to be in the US, it is the standard for most people. Broadband made Web use quick, much more enjoyable and allowed incredible sites like YouTube to spring up. Mobile broadband provides the ability to be productive (and unproductive) almost anywhere using the Web. It has also impacted the whole family.

So, what’s your top tech story of the last 10 years?
